Background

Matthew was born in 1974 in the west Sierra Falls area. His father at the time was a patrol officer in Sierra Falls PD Central Division, his mother was a finance clerk for a large company based in Sierra Falls.

In 1977, Matthew's brother Daniel was born and the two spent most of their childhood together, Daniel following Matthew through schooling and both, though not highly academic, gained good grades. Due to the area in which they were brought up Matthew quickly learned to ski and climbing followed shortly after when he was around 15 years old. He also learned to snowboard and has since taken this up as his primary pasttime.

In 1992 Matthew graduated from High School and was reluctant to go to college, instead he chose to following in his father, now Lieutenant, and join the Sierra Falls Police Department. He graduated from the SFPD Academy in November 1992 and was posted to the North District, primarily to keep him away from being commanded by his father.

In 1994 Matthew's father was promoted to Captain and transferred to Metro Division, Matthew then took the option of moving to the busier, more interesting, Central District, where he remained for a year before being successful in passing the Detective's Exam. He was transferred to the Detective Bureau in 1995.

He remained in the Detective Bureau dealing with the majority of Sierra Falls' crime until 1999, when he applied, and was successful in getting, a one year attachment to the Vice Squad.

In 2000, Matthew passed his promotion examinations and interview and was promoted to Sergeant, and supervisor of the Detective Bureau. He spent three years as a DB Sergeant during which time he and a number of other supervisors proposed significant changes to the department which were hastily instigated due to the fall in prosecutions. Following a more succesful year in 2002, Matthew was given a transfer to the Assistant Commander's post of the Homicide Investigations Unit in 2003. In 2005, following a department restructure he was assigned to Criminal Investigation Detective Bureau.

On August 18, 2005 Matt received the results of his Command Officers Examination and shortly after was promoted to Lieutenant and put in command of Teams 1 of the Criminal Investigations Detective Bureau.

Personlity Profile

Matthew has a tough shell, consisting of sharp wit and a sarcastic, dry sense of humor. He believes in what he does and strongly supports anyone who wants to 'get places' in the police. He is very work-focused and can take his task to heart.

Matthew's weakness is his desire to live up to his father's reputation, and he despises people comparing him and his father, as to him 'they are totally seperate people'. He does not like being knocked-back or criticised in his work and can take any such criticism to heart. He is often described as quite a handsome man, though has little luck with finding a partner.

Physical Profile

Matthew stands just over 6 feet tall and is fairly slim built, though is quite toned and athletic. He has brown hair, which is kept at a medium length and styled into a messy/spikey 'fashionable' appearance or left down (when he doesn't have time to get ready).
