Mick, as he prefers, was born in San Fernando, Los Angeles to a family of four children. He grew up in the San Fernando area with his father working in an engineering company to barely keep the family afloat financially.
At the age of 16, whilst at Los Angeles High School, Mick choose to join the Los Angeles Police Cadet scheme, a course offered by the LAPD to High School and College students of 16 years of age and above, whereby they could learn basic law and get some experience of the life of being in the police, even working in police stations.
At 20 years old, Mick left college and immediately joined the Los Angeles Police Department, in an attempt to get out of the low-quality life his family was from. That year prior to graduating from college he married his girlfriend of one year, Theresa Collins. He graduated from the Academy in August 1983 and was assigned to the Hollonbeck Area of Central Division as a Patrol officer, where he remained for some time, gaining his Officer II rank in 1984, and Officer I rank in 1988.
On January 4, 1985, Theresa gave birth to her first child to Mick, named Jordan and 5 years later, on September 25, 1990, their second child, Alexander was born.
After the birth of their second child and due to the poor salary offered by LAPD at the time, Mick became somewhat depressed and several bouts of argument began to affect the family. This would cease for several months before beginning again. It reached it's climax in 1994, 2 years following the LAPD's shake up, when 9 year old Jordan witnessed his mother and father arguing and throwing kitchenware around. Mick immediately requested a transfer to another police force, and the following year was accepted by Sierra Falls Police Department and assigned to the South District.
In 1996 he met, and married Jolene Daniels, a business manager in Sierra Falls, and the two bought a new house. Due to the lack of income Mick's previous wife, Theresa sent both Jordan and Andrew to live with Mick as she could no longer afford to keep them.
However, in 1997, the domestic situation was not all it appeared and a now 10-year old Jordan began causing various problems for the family wanting his father to end his relationship with the Jolene. This caused a rift in the family which Mick did not appreciate. Wanting the best for his children he began to take them, on a regular basis, to see their mother. Jolene did not appreciate the action was simply for the children and left Mick that year (1997) for another man.
Mick was devastated and his work life deteriorated slightly. At the time he was already overweight, approximately 270 pounds, but he began putting on weight due to over-endulging and not going out as ofter as he had previously. This course of action continued until his work colleagues noticed his change in attitude and he was ordered to take counseling.
In 1999, Mick met his third partner, Patricia Davison and after a highly successful introduction to his two son's, Mick and Patricia bought a house together in Discovery City and Mick transferred districts to Pineville to work closer to home. In 2001, Patricia gave birth to Mick's third (and final by all accounts) child, Helena. The family have lived in Discovery City together since that time and Jordan.
In 2005, due to Department reorganisation Mick was transferred to Metropolitan Division to work in Ash Street Precinct. |
