Richard Lydecker was born on the 31st March, 1970 to parents Marcus and Louise Lydecker at the St. Vincent Medical Centre in Los Angeles. Weighing an average weight and being perfectly healthy Richard was released from the hospital and along with his parents return to the family home in Culver City. At the time of his birth Richard’s father was an FBI Agent within the Los Angles Branch and his mother was a surgeon at the medical centre where he was born. Living a happy young childhood Richard was comfortably provided for and grew up with morals and values for life and people. Living in a household with a doctor and a federal agent who were very career minded however meant he was often left in the care of a relative or neighbour and thus from a young age he begun to drift apart from his parents through no fault of their own. At the age of five he attended The Willows Community School.

At the age of seven Richards parents gave birth the second child, a baby girl who they named Sophie. Sophie formed a strong friendship with Richard, who while detached from his parents formed a close friendship with his sister and ensured her safety much to the delight of the on looking parents. This friendship continues to be incredibly strong now the both are adults – although Sophie gets irritated when Richard fights her battles and this can also land Richard in trouble. At the age of eleven he attended Palms Junior High School and was an average student in all his subjects with particular skills in the physical education classes. After his time at the Junior High Richard went to the local High School in Culver City. Here Richard developed his interests in Politics through taking an active part in the High School Debating Team where he learnt of an unusual personality trait which encapsulated and inspired audiences. During his membership he helped the High School win several State debating tournaments. As well as this and his studies Richard developed an interest in the Sport of Fencing and in particular the Sabre. He quickly became highly skilled in this traditional sport and was made the Men’s Team Captain for the Schools team. Leading his team successfully he managed to leave the High School with a firm collection of medals and trophies that both he and his team had won during his time there. While at High School Richard made many friends from classes and societies that he belonged too and this was also where he met best friend, and future wife, Rachel Saunders. Also during his time at High School, Richard’s parents gave birth to his brother, Joseph. The two guys shared hobbies and the three siblings were always very close. The detachment of the children from the working parents never seemed to bother either Joseph or Sophie but Richard heavily suffered, trying his utmost best to please his parents. It is now the case that he feels he often needs to prove himself to please parents who he doesn’t realise couldn’t be happier.

It was on arrival at the Berkeley Campus of the University of California that Richard and Rachel started dating. Studying his main interest, politics, Richard tried to make his parents proud, especially his father who was now the Director of the Los Angeles FBI Branch, a post he would hold until retirement. His mother, now the Chief Surgeon wished her son would follow her into medicine but continued to support him when he expressed interest in the United States Secret Service. While at University Richard picked up another hobby, Rifle Shooting. Going to the range nearly every weekend it was clear that he seemed to possess a natural talent for shooting the rifles accurately. Richard discovered that a boyfriend of his High School sister was beating her up and making her life depressing and as soon has he confided in him he drove to the boy’s house and proceeding to threaten him with violence. The boy, while too scared to report it then left Richard’s sister alone and events like this proved his unwavering family loyalty, and a hot-headed approach to diplomacy. After graduation Richard joined the United States Secret Service, Uniformed Division and attended the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centre (FLETC) in Glynco, Georgia to complete the basic training. After this he moved onto specialist Marksman training at the James J. Rowley Training Centre outside Washington, D.C. Now a fully qualified Agent he joined the beat patrol of the White House before putting in a transfer and joining the Counter-sniper Support Unit based at the White House in Washington D.C. It was at this point that Rachel and he were married in a small ceremony with only close friends and family attending.

After several years of service and only one ‘battle story’ to tell (a situation occurred when a fanatic had broken into the grounds of the White House and despite being called to stop failed to do so and Richard took the shot killing the intruder on the green. It was later discovered that the man was carrying explosives in a backpack) Richard yearned for something that would enable him to use his developing, yet untamed people skills at a greater level and undertake a job which helped more people on the basic level. However it was also in this transition that he discovered Rachel was having an affair with a workmate of Richard. Snapping Richard hit the man who happened to be his senior and was dismissed from service. After pleading with his seniors to drop the charges, he was successful due to his dedication and loyalty and was allowed to leave honourably. It was at this point he divorced Rachel and turned to Alcohol. Drinking vast quantities and wallowing in his own mistakes he was left, renting a bed-sit with nothing left. Rachel had blamed the affair on him being too involved with his work life – and not enough with his home life and stupidly, he believed this and was now a raging alcoholic. It was his sister and brother who picked him up from this and got him back on his feet. With persuasive help from the disappointed parents they checked Richard into a Hollywood Rehab clinic where he complied with all medical treatment and after several gruelling months of agony he recovered and emerged a recovering citizen. After seeing how his family had helped him, and how disappointed he had made his parents he now wanted to help others. Since checking out of rehab Richard has been wary about going to pubs after work hours for fear of slipping back into the old habit, this makes him appear a loner to colleagues rather than an active socialite. With a glowing career record he applied to the Sierra Falls Police Academy and completed the transfer course with ease before being placed on beat patrol.

In 2001 Richard put in a transfer to SWAT, knowing that his skills would be best suited to this department due to his prior Secret Service training. Completing the SWAT training and having his Secret Service draw style overlooked he was placed into active duty and while on a raid at a house he was searching in a closet when he heard a noise, instinctively he turned and pulled his gun, the safety being taken off in the same action he shot, hitting the leg of a man who had woken from the next room and walked in. At this point he was taken off duty and warned against his behaviour. After being cleared during the hearing he was ordered back to the SWAT Academy where he re-educated himself  in drawing a firearm, as it is common practise to draw the gun and switch of the safety in one action while in the Secret Service, however in the police it is vital to do it in two. Learning from his mistake it is one he hopes he won’t make again. However now a Marksman trained SWAT Officer Richard was based at the Effingham SWAT Complex of the Sierra Falls Police Department where he continued to shine as an example officer of the Force and after completing the Negotiators course and exam was able to combine his unique personality trait with expert marksmanship and leadership skills to become an officer that shined in the department.

Quite a reasonable, down-to-earth individual Richard is easy to make friends with. However he knows when the time for fun and games ends and is known for snapping at those who don’t know when duty comes first. Being slightly hot-headed in his diplomatic approach he provides a daring and unique negotiating skill in the field but has the ability to encapsulate and inspire his team-mates. However under pressure he has been known to loose his cool while negotiating and subsequently suffers from acute social anxiety. Putting work before life Richard is rarely seen out of ‘the office’ but when he is, he likes to have a good laugh with friends and family while actively staying away from bars and pubs. Family loyalty for Richard is paramount. Since the divorce he is prone to nightmares which he refuses to talk about and masks his insecurities with dismissive approach. As one who has been betrayed before he is not one to open up and to earn his trust is a great achievement. Since his time in rehab he has never touched a drink for fear of regressing but he is able to be around alcohol comfortably without the desire to drink.

Standing a reasonable 6’2” from the ground and of a medium well toned build Richard is a force to be reckoned with. While being slim and yet still powerful he has the typical body of every SWAT Officer – one that is highly developed, but covered in ‘war wounds’. Richards only mark however, is a scar on his left shoulder. With dirty blonde hair and piercing blue eyes he is a well kept individual but likes to keep a rough edge about him – often keeping a stubble as opposed to being clean shaven.
