Scott and his brother Mark were born on Friday, June 10, 2006. Their mother, Judith, is a Psychologist and partner in a psychotherapy business, which was contracted to a quarter of the medical centers around the city. Their father, Raymond, is a Consultant Architect and has worked his way to designing some of the cities residential areas. He has, however, remained faithful to his roots and still resides in Westbrook Cliffs despite being able to afford better.
Scott did well at school and his childhood was fun-filled. He became close friends with Adam Kayne, a resident of his street and a pupil at Westbrook Cliffs High. He spent much of his time out of school playing soccer or baseball in the street or on the park nearby. The safe neighbourhood in which he lived, showed him how life should be. In his last year of high school, 2000, that view would change.
Whilst Scott and Adam were chasing each other down to the park along a nearby street, a stolen vehicle was racing away from the house it had been taken from. The boys were in the middle of the street at an intersection when the car came through. Scott managed to jump clear, but the vehicle hit his friend. Adam died at the scene.
Scott took his exams two weeks later. He found he couldn't concentrate, even though his results were still good, he decided not to go to university and to concentrate on sorting out his life. He was suddenly quiet and reserved and found it difficult to talk to anyone. His mother despaired that, even with her years of experience in psychology, her son's trauma could still take years to heal.
After spending a year travelling around California, to visit his friends, Scott made the decision to join the Police. He felt he needed to combat the type of people who caused him his grief and caused the death of his friend.
In 2002 he sat the entrance exam to Sierra Falls Police Academy and was successful. He graduated that year and was assigned to the Metropolitan Division, where he would serve as a Patrol Officer for the next few years.
On August 10, 2005, Scott was on duty in a single-crewed vehicle, when a call was received to an armed robbery in progress at convenience store in the city. Scott and another unit responded to the call. On his arrival Scott was confronted by a male wielding an assault rifle and in a hail of bullets had to dive from his car behind cover. The other officer, a Sheriff's Department Deputy, was not so lucky, his vehicle was hit and skidded into a wall. The fuel lines of the cruiser had been shot through and slowly the fuel started to ignite.
Scott, risking his own life in light of the rifle wielding robber, ran from his place of safety to the cruiser and dragged the injured deputy from it behind a concrete wall. Moments later the vehicle's fuel tank exploded as other units arrived. Scott was awarded the SFPD Medal of Merit and Lifesaving Ribbon for his efforts.
That year Scott successfully passed the Detective Exam and was posted to the Criminal Investigations Detective Bureau. He served there on the Central District team, covering Sierra Falls center, until 2006, when he applied for and was transferred into the Anti-Crime Detective Bureau - Street Crime Team. |
