Background
Growing up in rural Minnesota, there was a lot of stuff for a young boy and his twin sister to do in the long winter months; ice fishing, hunting, then there was ice fishing and hunting, oh and never to be forgotten was ice fishing and hunting. In the summers there was; fishing, hiking, water skiing, and hiking. Lars grew up loving the outdoors. He didn't do sports and he didn't play in the band. He didn't do much of anything but study, paticipating in Boy Scouts (he became an Eagle Scout at the age of 16) and go outside. By the time he was a senior in high school, he decided that he wanted to do nothing other than join the army and be an infantryman for the rest of his life.

Following that plan, Lars joined the Minnesota National Guard while still in high school and transferred to active duty the day after he graduated. Things went well in Lars's army career-- even though he was youngest, he was appointed platoon guide of his basic training platoon, he was the top in his infantry class, shooting 39 out of 40 on his marksmanship test, and had taken the Air Assault course at Ft. Campbell.

At the age of 20, he was already a sergeant. The age of twenty was when things started to go wrong. While stationed at Ft. Drum, NY with the 10th Mountain Division, he started realizing he had feelings for the first sergeant's son. Not friendly feelings but lustful feelings. Finally, he started a secret relationship with the 18-year-old openly gay teen. The "Top" tolerated the relationship until he found Lars and his son in bed during a dinner for the retiring Sergeant Major's going away party.

Top had no choice but to start separation procedures. Although, he found a way for Lars to receive an honorable discharge, instead of the "other than honorable" that was given to most outed gay service members. After that, he returned to his family in Minnesota. His sister was about to graduate with a criminology degree from the University of Minnesota at Morris. She talked to him about police work. Despite his dad being a State Trooper, he had never thought about law enforcement before but now he decided to give it a try.

By that time, the Top's son was attending UC-SF. So, Lars followed him out here. The relationship didn't last but Lars's love of California has. He just misses the months on end of snow.
Personlity Profile

Though Lars is open about his sexuality (his car is now decorated with a single pink triangle), most people have a hard time believing that the scary tall dude might be a "fairy." Even gay guys give him a hard time about his "jock ways." That sort of bugs him and he's tried to develop "nellier" habits to no avail.

His taste in music tends toward "chick rock" and folk music. His love of the Indigo Girls and Melissa Etheridge has earned him jabs about being a "dyke in fag's clothing."

On the job, he's serious and lacks a certain sense of humor but off the job, he's known for playing up his "dumb farm boy" image for the pleasure of his friends.

Physical Profile
Lars is extraordinarily tall and has a well toned broad shoulders. He is the human embodiment of "Big Ole" the 40-foot-tall viking statue from his home town. Lars has been working at changing his fashion style to one that will attract men but can still be found traipsing in the backwoods with his corduroy jeans and quilted flannel shirt.
