Benefits

Working Hours & Overtime

SFPD employees (non-shift working) are salaried for 40 hours of work per 7 day week.

In accordance with California State Law, all work performed beyond rostered duty will be paid at normal + half pay, where the overtime follows a rostered shift. Where employees are requested to perform additional duties, if the notice of such duties is less than 5 days from the time of the required duty, the employee will be compensated at a rate of double pay. Where the notice is 6 or more days from the time of the required duty the employee will be compensated at a rate of normal + half pay. If more than 15 days notice of requirement for additional duty is given the employee will be compensated by being granted additional holiday hours in lieu of pay.

Vacation and Holidays
Sworn employees receive 18 days of vacation per year after one year of service and 28 days per year after ten years. Every sworn employee also receives a total of 13 paid floating holidays per year; one day every four weeks.

Sick Leave and Disability Benefits
Sworn employees receive 14 days of 100 percent paid sick leave, 14 days at 75 percent, and 14 days at 50 percent, upon hiring and each year while employed. Employees may accumulate up to 100 days at 100 percent, 75 percent, and 50 percent paid sick leave. Employees are eligible for a service-connected disability retirement from the date of graduation from basic training.

Medical/Dental/Vision/Life Insurances

Sierra Falls Police Department offers all employees the option of joining the Sierra Falls City Employee Insurance schemes. The city contributes towards all insurances. Medical and Dental insurance cover 100% of the cost of all necessary operations.

Uniform Allowance

The City of Sierra Falls provides all sworn/un-sworn law enforcement agency employees with a uniform allowance of $2000.00 annually to use towards the maintenance, purchase and upkeep of uniforms and duty equipment. This is paid in addition to standard pay each month.
